HMH Into Literature is an English language arts program for grades 6–12 that uses a variety of texts to help students develop critical reading, writing, and communication skills

    The program uses a combination of classic and contemporary texts to engage students. 

  • Instructional methods

    HMH Into Literature uses a variety of methods to help students learn, including: 

    • Sign posts: Help students read observantly and think about their responses 

    • Essential questions: Anchor each unit and prompt students to think about the text 

    • Engage Your Brain activities: Get students sketching, writing, and discussing key ideas 

    • Choices activities: Give students the opportunity to choose how they demonstrate their understanding 

  • Assessment

    The program includes formative assessments, peer reviews, and Reflect on the Unit questions. 

  • Teacher tools

    Teachers can use differentiation tools and unit planning guides to tailor the unit to their students' needs. 

  • Support

    The program includes selection summaries in multiple languages, as well as multilingual glossaries of literary and informational terms.
